nice!

i usually dont like 8 bit songs, but this one is really something special! i can really see a story going along with this one, lemme see...

a large frigate, iodized blue, full of normal people just doing their jobs, then out of nowhere small red ships everywhere! sirens blare, the ship swerves engines blasting a trail of blue fire! the red ships, made for speed easily catch up and pass the frigate, exchanging blasts from hidden lazers. the ship rocks and shakes. they, although smaller than the frigate, are well armed. they surround it and begin to blast it out of space. small pods containing boarding crews fire off and latch onto the blue ship! the pirates fill the ship, fighting shooting, pillaging! they take it, and leave. the sole reason for the frigates voyage! retreating to their ship the pirates blast away into the starry oblivion leaving as fast as they arrived, taking mankind's only hope with them. the crew stands on the deck of their burning ship and stare into the stars after the pirates, thinking about their future. the fires on deck rage on as the ship turns toward where the pirates disappeared to. everything shakes as they blast into the whirlwind vortex of hyperspace after the thieves! the crew reacts as if hit by a bucket of cold water. everyone is doing everything at once, patching holes, putting out fires, shouting directions as they blast onward toward their goal. on the way they begin to meet different red ships, ready for them the frigate attacks and defeat them. nearing the red ships they seek there are more and more of the red ships, after each success the crew is able to salvage enough from the red ships to make their ship that much better. finally they leave hyperspace and emerge next to the red ships they seek, amidst an asteroid field and a massive black hole. the enemies regard each other for a moment before blasting into action! the smaller red ships outmaneuver the larger frigate, but are no match for its swiveling guns! they dodge in and out of the spinning chunks of space rock, only delaying the inevitable. soon there is nothing left of them but sparking wreckage, and a small glittering object floating in space, soon to be retrieved...

or something like that.

why?

why do I always have to wake up! please, please! I just want to sleep, sleep and dream of paradise.

I really love this song. it is pure joy, happiness, euphoria, all condensed and packaged into one beautiful song! i have had many dreams where i have been in paradise, not on beach, not filled with riches and fame, but happiness, joy, and love. everything was perfect. i get the same feeling from this song. i have unfortunately have also had, as i am sure, have you, the unpleasant experience of waking up from a perfect dream, coming with a shock back to reality only to realize that it is a cold rainy day, and that that there were seven things that should have gotten done yesterday before i went to bed. once again, excellent song.

wow!

I really love this song! the entire piece is very well made so as to be happy and energetic, but also with the feeling of adrenaline and the rush of doing something you are really good at. this song embodies the beautiful invincibility of energy, a warrior fighting a war, a master sword maker making a sword. there is nothing more comforting than knowing that you are the unquestioned master of your own fate.

an excellent song

this is an outstanding song. the beginning especially was my favorite part. it fit really well with the feeling of danger and an impending doom. the beginning of the ending was also very well done, from about the 1:50 mark onward to the 2:06 mark it really just made me feel that it was all just right down to the wire and time was running out. however as you get more into the song it kind of deviates from your fear and leads you to think that the guy is actually winning. which, i don't believe that you want. From about the 47 second mark onwards the song starts to get way too happy, which really doesn't make much sense with the story. From there, at least until about 1:12 needs to be much darker. however not slower. in fact you could even make it a little faster. the drums especially are kind of slow throughout the entire song, with the exception of the part between like 1:45 and 2:06. remember, this guys heart is practically exploding, he is just booking it to get to that room in time. from the 1:12 point until about 2:06 needs to be much, well, BIGGER, if you know what i mean. I also kind of dont like the voices. they dont really do it for me. just an opinion though. There needs to be much more going on. you should probably add a really low base track, and i would suggest that you also add a high track. you have an excellent middle track with the strings and it sounds really good, but it is kind of empty all by itself and i think it would sound much better with a little bit more UMPH you know? then when it drops i didn't really feel the despair there. I would think that you should go much deeper, maybe add another instrument in just for that part. also like a hollow boom noise would really highlight the surprise in that particular instant that the hero is feeling, overlaid with something else would just be awesome. then i would elongate the part at the end. because when i read your story i really imagine him bursting into the room at about the 2:00 mark running across the floor and then jumping at 2:03 with his knife out yelling, the entire six seconds between 2:00 and 2:06 would be shot in a way so that there would be camera cuts to a black scene and then back to the actual scene so that it played in equivalent slow motion. an example of this is at the end of the Avatar trailer. there would then be a shot of him about to come down and behead Artanis and smashing into the invisible wall at 2:06. the music would then take a dramatic turn as Artanis slowly turns around with a smirk. the high notes there really don't work. i think that you were better off with just an eerie silence as the church bells peal out the doomsday hour. Artanis would then say the line about it being too late. then just as the giant demon emerges from the abyss the music would spike up into a glorious finish as the hero's vision fades to black. I think that this is a really amazing song, there is lots of improvement that could be made, but that is true for everything. overall great job.

I agree with you about most stuff. I agree that this does sound a bit empty, but the overall depth was something i was working on at the time (i still am). As to the voices, i know now how to utilize them better, as at that time i'd just got that new vst and was a little noobish at it (if u get what i mean :D)

As to the rest, it all makes sense and even if i dont always agree completely with you, everyone is entitled to his opinion and i will therefore keep it in mind for future projects.

Also, not to sound to bitchy, but it would help the person ur reviewing if ur reviews were paragraphed. It also makes you look more professional and helps the user understand exactly what ur saying. If you want an example on how to paragraph reviews u can check out Supersteph54's reviews. ;)

Tks for the review!

nice!

you have a very intriguing intro here! i am looking foreword to the continuation of this intro if you choose to make one. just one suggestion though. after the 13 second mark it becomes kind of empty. it could be that it gets fixed when you lengthen it, but for now i would suggest adding some bass in that part. other then that though amazing job!

Totally agree with Drakedragon!

I could totally imagine an awesome anime opener to this song! I would totally love to see someone make one! the first half especially. i have no idea why it just seems so happy and upbeat. i really love that about it!

excellent use of orchestration

your choice of instruments in this piece really conveys the message you were trying to get across. the freedom, the limitlessness of the sky, and near the end some of the terror and joy of it. this song is really a true work of art. LOVE IT!

amazing song!

the baseline is both static and dynamic at the same time. that is really impressive. i really like it!

durn responds:

:) Thank you, gr33bl3r. Bass is such a fun, warm thing to play with. I love how it can be used to compliment and change everything.

very well constructed piece

this piece although short is an amazing work and i look foreward to the extended version. Im sure your brother (and probably quite a few of your viewers) enjoyed dancing to this (myself included) Love it!

great!

really great song. love the synth! the whole piece really comes together as a whole very nicely! excellent song. a really strong beat with some really cool instrumental bits on top. the only thing that i can reccomend you improve is the first 15 seconds of the song. they are probably the most important because they really lead the listener into the song and make them interested and want more. the organ like instrument really sounds stale all by itself. i would cut out seconds 2-15 and just start with second one followed by second 16. you will of course have to smooth it out but that is the general idea.

whenever i take multiple choice tests i always feel like i need to answer 3 d, even if it's wrong.
